What usually isn't covered by home & contents insurance?

Exclusions, the excess you need to pay and limits of liability can vary greatly depending on the nature of the product you are purchasing, the associated risk, the insurer and the requirements of your business.

Policies generally do not include cover for:

  • If your home is unoccupied for more than 100 continuous days (90 days for the listed event and base listed even wordings)
  • For rust, corrosion, gradual deterioration, depreciation or wear and tear.
  • For damage caused by rats, mice or insects.
